The Open University has produced its second innovation report which focuses on exploring new forms of teaching, learning and assessment, to guide educators and policy makers. It lists ten major innovations that it believes will influence the educational environment.
  1. MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses);
  2. Badges to accredit learning;
  3. Learning analytics;
  4. Seamless learning;
  5. Crowd learning;
  6. DIgital scholarship;
  7. Geo-learning;
  8. Learning from gaming;
  9. Maker culture;
  10. Citizen inquiry;
One key statement in the report is that “technologies may change, but the innovations in pedagogy bring lasting benefit”.
